To date, the pool with the largest capacity of water in the database at a staggering 2,000,000 gallons. It opened unofficially in 1923 and saw use for two seasons before getting a formal opening ceremony in 1925. Tents were used as changing facilities until the permanent ones were built.
Whilst the largest in capacity, it lacked the grand supporting buildings, cafes, shops etc that the other larger pools such as South Shore, New Brighton, and Morecambe and Heysham enjoyed.
Battered by storms, it was flooded in 1953 and damaged by storms in 1976 and 1978. It was eventually demolished in 1981.
