The West Shore Lido aka Deganwy Bathing Pool, was constructed close to Deganwy Promenade in 1934. The project was started by Mr R Arthur Jones who was a local auctioneer and estate agent. The pool was filled with sea water from the Irish sea and was filetered and chlorinated.
Underwater lighting shone through portholes around the sides. There were floodlights for evening bathing and fountains each end of the pool. Indoor facilities included a dance hall with sprung floor. Many clubs were based at the complex.
In 1937 R. Arthur Jones put forward expansion plans but WWII intervened.
Upon R. Arthur Jones’ death, the pool was sold to Arthur Brown, of Deganwy, who owned Browns Radio in Llandudno. The pool was finally closed in 1964 and the land sold for housing development.

The West Shore bathing pool was opened on August 1. The bath is 210 ft. by 100 ft., and contains 800,000 gal. of water, drawn from the Irish Sea, on the incoming tide after passing through filtration plant (supplied by the Pulsometer Engineering Co., Ltd.) . Underwater lighting is by over 70 portholes round the sides of the bath.
Over 1,000 steel lockers are provided for the storage of bathers’ clothes, and in addition to these there are two large blocks of cubicles. The filter plant has three stages and is of such capacity that it can treat the contents of the pool in eight hours. Sterilisation is by means of the chloramine process.
