Hunstanton’s open air pool was opened in 1928 and was known as the ‘Blue Lagoon’.
The pool was to be demolished to make was for a new indoor swimming and leisure complex but locals were against the plans.
A group ‘Save the Swimming Pool’ was formed but to no avail as demolition orders were given in October 1967. Years later, no new indoor pool was built and the town had to wait until 1984 to get their facilities back.
Another lido that was demolished but potentially will be replaced with a new marine pool. An advisory group is in place and it is looking into the feasiblity of a new pool.
