The original pool was opened in 1923 and was designed by the partnership of H Robertson and J M Easton. It was refurbished in 1958 and re-named the Royal Lido. It appears that the previously rectangular pool had a semicircular section created. Finally it was converted to a covered pool in the 1980’s and re-named again to the Noval Centre and that remains. The footprint of the current pool looks to be the same shape as the Royal so may be the existing tank but this is not confirmed.
