Built on the back of the salt springs in the area, this pool was a replacement for the 1883 indoor brine baths built on the site of the Old Biot spring. By the 1930’s the old pool had become unusable so the outdoor replacement was built 200m to the North at Snow Hill.
Surrounded by a brick wall, the pool was partly funded by a Minstry of Health grant and a year after opening a cafe and sun bathing terrace were added.
The pool had a £1.4m redesign in 2012/2013. The outdoor pool re-opened in May 2013 with the indoor pool and buildings still under refurbishment and a grand re-opening took place in September of that year.
