Originally the site of Forest Lodge (home of a Mr Reddall), this was demolished in 1933 and a pool and private club built on the site. This pool is particularly remembered by my Father (born 1936) who swam here often and more often than the closer Whipps Cross Lido. Go figure.
The pool was opened by English swimming champion and Olympic medallist Joyce Cooper.
Eventually the pool was demolished and replaced by a typical 1970’s Moat House hotel that still stands as the Epping Forest Hotel.
