Opened in 1927 and refurbished in 1935, when it re-opened it was the first outdoor pool to be named “lido”. The refurbishment cost £8,700 and this added a filtration plant, loudspeakers, a refreshment pavillion and tea terrace, a sun-bathing beach and various building extensions.
Considering it is the first outdoor pool to be officially called a “lido”, there is scant information about it online or in any reference books.
