The pools at Camp Bay were built during the 1960’s following encouragement by the British Government to the Gibraltar Legislative Council to look to alternative sources of income other than military ones. A promenade was built between Camp Bay and Little Bay where there is a small paddling pool.
The pool originally had three dolphins that acted as fountains, spouting sea water but these were removed in 2006 due to deterioration. They were refurbished and sited on land.
In 2014, a second major refurbishment programme saw the length and depth of the pool substantially increased and a fully automated water chlorination system added.
