Opening in 1922, this was a pre-modernist pool, built alongside the sea front. Ranging for 2′ 6″ to 8′ and containing 600,000 gallons of unheated sea water, the pool was nevertheless a popular attraction at the holiday destination.
The pool was 100m long and had seating for 1,000 spectators.
£78,000 was spent on a refurbishment in 1961 and the pool lasted another 18 years before closing to make way for a huge indoor leisure centre and pool. This, in turn, was demolished and a smaller facility and car park is now on the site.
